I have been teaching drums since 2008, starting out as drum tutor at The Academy of Music and Sound in Edinburgh, where I taught further education courses until 2018. I then joined the City of Edinburgh Council Instrumental Music Team to teach drums and percussion in a number of Edinburgh high schools. Alongside these jobs, I have built a successful private tuition business with an ongoing clientele of between 20-30 students.
In your lessons we will examine stick & pedal control, groove and fill development, song studies and much more. Playing along to your favourite songs and playing live in the room with me playing guitar or bass guitar will form a central part of your lessons.
Crafting a productive practice method that will allow you to reach your full potential on the instrument will also be an important focus.
Many of my students have successfully completed both graded and school exams at all levels and many have gone on to study music at college and university.
Lessons are available both at my studio, remotely or a mix of the two.
